Although FC Barcelona has seen a rise in their reputations of recent, some players have not been so lucky. Ansu Fati in particular has enjoyed a woeful season mired by prolonged injury that has hampered his season badly.

Barcelona currently have six players unavailable for selection, with Gerard Pique (groin), Sergi Roberto (thigh), Samuel Umtiti (foot) and Ansu Fati (hamstring) also out of action.

Here, we bring you the latest injury updates on Ansu Fati, Sergino Dest, Sergi Roberto, Memphis Depay, others.

ANSU FATI

After a long injury layoff, FC Barcelona were treated to some Ansu special upon his return in January this year. However, three matches later, the young Spaniard was devastated with another sad injury news that has kept him out of action ever since then.

Recent news coming from the Nou Camp is that the youngster has stated training with the first team and is currently billed for return to action this month. However, according to a report from Barca Universal, Ansu Fati’s return has been delayed for a possible 2 – 3 additional weeks.

The 19-year-old La Masia ace has been rumoured to be return to action in the upcoming La Liga match against Cadiz. But, word is that the board don’t want to take chances and will gradually ease him back into the team.

The report states that Barça are looking at the La Liga clashes against Rayo Vallecano (April 24) or RCD Mallorca (May 1) as more realistic dates for Fati to return to on-field action.

MEMPHIS DEPAY

As confirmed in an official statement, the Dutchman picked up a left hamstring strain a fortnight ago. He was not available for the trip to Frankfurt last Thursday, and his availability in the coming matches will depend on how he recovers.

According to Barca coach, Xavi Hernandez, Memphis Depay may likely return to action against Frankfurt Eintracht tomorrow. A lot will depend on if the medical team gives a green light.

• SERGINO DEST

Dest has been out of action for the Catalan giants since picking up a hamstring injury in the fixture against Galatasaray in the Europa League in March.

The USMNT player was also left out of the squad that won Sunday’s La Liga contest with Levante. Speaking about his possible return, Xavi was quoted as saying –

“He (Dest) is close to returning. It depends on the player’s feelings, we’ll see. Both, him and Memphis, are close to returning to the squad. They should be back by Thursday,” – Sports Mole.

• SERGI ROBERTO

The midfielder has been out of action since October and is reportedly nearing a possible return before the end of the season.

Sergi Roberto is currently not having it easy with the club with respect to his contract situation and renewable. Although there was a meeting between his camp and the board, nothing concrete came out of it. Discussions will continue next week according to local based Catalunya Radio.

• GERARD PIQUE

The Spanish centreback was left out of the team in Barcelona’s win against Levante on Sunday night after coming off with a discomfort in the game against Frankfurt Eintracht in Germany.

From reports reaching Uptownerd, we can confirm that Pique is back in training. However, his availability for the return Europa League fixture is still a doubt though.

• SAMUEL UMTITI

Recurring injury problems have rendered Umtiti completely out of things at the Nou Camp after what seemed like a breather earlier.

At the moment, he is on the verge of a possible return. With Xavi at the helm of things now, who knows if the beast will be reawakened or sold off in the summer transfer window.
